TREDISĀ® - Descriptive Information
As a modular, web-based system, TREDIS represents a quantum leap in the applicability and versatility of economic assessment tools for transportation analysis. It is a package of tools that together can be used for assessing user benefits, economic development benefits, or benefit-cost analysis for transportation projects. It is the only system applicable for all modes -- highway, bus rail, aviation and marine projects, as well as multi-modal projects.
It has four separate modules for analyzing:
(1) the direct user benefits of projects affecting travel times, costs, safety or reliability,
(2) economic development impacts associated with market access changes,
(3) additional regional economic adjustment and growth effects, and
(4) benefit-cost analysis from alternatives perspectives.
An advantage of this modular design is that it allows parts of the TREDIS package to be used independently to address different issues. That feature also allows TREDIS to work with any form of existing travel demand model and any type of existing economic model.
Another important feature of TREDIS is that it is web-based, which makes it an ideal platform for collaboration. Users can work on the same data, projects and problems at the same time, viewing the same TREDIS screens, while located hundreds or thousands of miles apart.
