Federal Reserve: Road Pricing

In June, 2007 the Federal Reserve Bank and Chicago Metropolis 2020 jointly hosted a conference to discuss road pricing strategies, as well as other issues related to reducing transportation congestion and improving economic efficiency in the Chicago region and around the world.

EDR Group's Steve Fitzroy attended, remarking that "the effects of congestion are eroding the significant progress that has been made in inventory management control", possibly weighing down productivity growth at the national level.

Optimizing a New Highway

A new study for the City of LaPorte, Indiana concludes that highway improvements will provide some new jobs to the city, but many more would be possible with accompanying workforce education and skill-level improvements.

This study, by EDR Group and Chicago Metropolis 2020 on behalf of the Chicago RTA, looks at the regional economic development impact of alternative investment scenarios for public transit - alongside scenarios such as the possibility of much higher future gasoline prices.

What is the result of years of public works investment in Appalachia? This new report reveals what works best in public works investment in the 13-state Appalachian region. This study measures the post-project benefits of ARC's investments in industrial parks, business incubators, broadband telecommunications, road, water and sewer facilities. It also demonstrates the value of follow-up evaluation processes.

OECD Expert Panel: Economic Tools

Before an international panel of experts convened by the OECD in Boston in November 2007, EDR Group's Glen Weisbrod and Brian B. Alstadt presented a technical appraisal of the uses and mis-uses of economic modeling tools and benefit-cost analyses used in transportation planning.
