The Firm

Economic Development Research Group, Inc. (EDR Group) is a consulting firm focusing specifically on applying state-of-the-art tools and techniques for evaluating economic development performance, impacts and opportunities. The firm was started in 1996, with a core group of economists and planners who had previously worked together in various combinations for over ten years.

What We Do

We collect information and apply economic analysis models to evaluate economic development opportunities and strategy targets for communities and regions, and we assess the economic benefits and opportunities associated with public policies and private sector investments. We specialize in evaluating impacts of transportation, energy, technologies, visitor attractions and economic development strategies. Our projects focus on helping clients address three types of issues: (1) Market Analysis, (2) Economic Strategy, and (3) Benefit-Cost Analysis.

Our Clients

EDR Group provides advisory services and conducts full-scale research studies for government agencies, private firms and other consulting firms. Our clients are located from coast-to-coast across both Canada and the US, as well as in Europe (the UK and Netherlands) and in South Africa. Our staff have also worked on prior projects in Asia (India and Japan) and elsewhere in Europe.

Our Staff

The firm is comprised of a core group of experienced economists and planners who are recognized leaders in developing and applying empirical analysis methods to assess economic development opportunities and economic impacts of projects and programs. Our working style is to bring in the best available individuals and resources for each assignment. To do that, we also draw upon a set of specialist consultants to complete our project teams for specific assignments.
