EDR Group was part of a team commissioned by NYSERDA, as part of the Power New York Act of 2011, to conduct a study on Increasing Generation from Photovoltaic Devices in New York (the Solar Study). In consultation with the Department of Public Service, the study determined policy options that could be used to achieve goals of 2,500 MW of installed capacity operating by 2020 and 5,000 MW operating by 2025.
EDR Group measured the macroeconomic impacts on the NY economy from scenarios of solar PV adoption within the residential, commercial and Industrial energy segments, as well as mega-watt scale installations. A REMI Policy Insight model was used for the economic simulations of the investment phase, ratepayer cost and benefit changes, and off-sets to the utility sector. Scenarios were also examined under high and low PV installed costs (per/MW), and for a high natural gas price future.
